Hi, I'm Ryan Shoun, founder of Ochoco Rugs Perth. With 7 years specialising in rugs and a further 7 years in home furniture and homewares, I started Ochoco with a simple belief — that every customer deserves straightforward, knowledgeable advice that actually solves their problem.

My Approach to Rugs & Customer Service

Some customers know exactly what they want, others need guidance — either way my job is to listen carefully and recommend the right rug for their space. Every home is different, every customer is different, and taking the time to understand both is what leads to the right result. A rug should feel like it was made for the room it's in.

Personally Sourced & Ethically Selected

I personally source and import our one-of-a-kind Afghan Khyber Kilims, Suzani Kilims, Miamana Kilims and Hand-Knotted Wool Kazaks, and every product range on the Ochoco website has been individually selected by me. If I don't love it or believe in it, it doesn't make the cut. I'm also committed to ensuring all Ochoco rugs are sustainably sourced and produced without the use of child labour.

My Passion for Afghan Kilims & Hand-Knotted Rugs

My particular passion is Afghan Kilims and Hand-Knotted Wool rugs — from Kazaks to Khal Mohammadis, Bokharas, Kashans and Aqchas. It's a category I'm continually building and curating, and one I never get tired of talking about.
